Jerry Pournelle, is for some readers familiar from his many years of Byte columns (now resinstated http://www.byte.com/), for others known as an SF author.
Jerry's was the original focus site from which evolved many web connections, including what became the DaynoteGang. Most of the daynoters started visiting Jerry's pages and got hooked.
So if you value your time and definitively DON'T want to become a daynoter stay clear of his site. OTOH ....
