The problem with F58010 in Norway is bounced back to me. I mailed the layout for f5806x with a dump of F58061 data (from the savesiles from CS) and sent that to Danielle (both). In stead of using this they want personal attention. Fred Peters also got mixed in into the plot. It is clear that when John isn’t in the whole of OFI starts to woble. Only one posible real problem remains and that is about missing transactions of type “KR”, “21” and “22”. This may be related to an other Norewegian problem.

The GUI/400 collector that I prepared last Friday was not released so nothing can be done for GUI today. The collector is now sceduled for this evening so tomorow will be GUI day-1. Dimitri is in so he can start then. Koen will come in on Thursday and maybe Friday.

I added some more to the UNIX manual. And to the Miona Log.

I've lost a lot of time on Norway. With Fred Peeters comming along and pressing for a solution. Except for the missing records (KR,21,22) all the problems are either tuning or local adapts. They don't have a local adapt but they need one. I did send rather precise instuction, in english about that because she would propably have dificulties explaining things.

A problem cropped up in GUI. The menubar items are, in the panel editor, presented as variables ( like "@file@") instead of sraight text (ex "File"). The result is that the menu is not available in life test. I tried several ways to solve this but the only way that helps is to just copy a previous version (M1) and replace it via the Change_management.Migration wizard. This is not good because Dimitri (and I) already built a set of panel and these must be redone. We don't realy have time for that but there is no alternative.

Added a lenghty paragraph about IDE-raid in the General book about harddisks. It is posible to build a RAID system based on IDE disks and controlers. The effort involved however is not inconsidered and the price advantage is only in the disks themselves. And the result may be ofset by the lack of perfromance. RAID on IDE is faster than non-RAID IDE only if you use level-1 and use DMA. You don't gain reliability so it may not be worth doing.
It is clear why RAID is normaly implemented using SCSI.

I also brought the Miona log (almost) up to date. I must start on a Mita log soon.

I remigrated M2, over a copy of M0. All menus show up now. Dimitri starts full steam building. Koen will be here tomorrow so maybe we can get the thing finished by friday. If we are lucky.

I spent almost the whole day on the Norwegian problem. Whatever I do or try I don't find a problem. There are 170 record in the OMSI file that are sent to OFI but aparently they didn't arrive. This is the Norwegian Production machine so I cannot actual execute the programs but I stepped one trough and broke it off immediately befor actualy writing data. There was no problem up to that point.
The only way I see is to follow an actual creditnote, but that will require some carefull planning and coordinating. This will have to wait becaus I don't have time now.

GUI is progressing slowly but surely. There are however a lot of pannels where the blue rectangles are totaly wrong. This is easyly and quickly solved by selecting "new screen" but it is worying nonetheless. Another problem is that sometimes when trying to open a panel we get a "cannot open panel xxxx" message. Selecting Smart Build opens the panel without problem.

News about Norway. There is no problem!

The field(s) they want and that is not sent to OFI (transaction type (trn) ) is something that only Norway needs. They must make a local adapt for that. The missing records in OFI are still in status "To be Approved" on the OMSI side. They are screaming without looking. And then they start trowing mud because I don't find the "problem". Nice people there.

Tom came to ask if GUI was finished! He must prepare the CD for burning tomorrow. First we are delayed a day and then we are expected to finish a day early. Without warning!!
We may get ready by friday evening. Nothing will be tested then. and the documentation will be unchanged from the previous shipment. GUI will not be shipped on the CD.

All is silent in Norway.

I checked the attic again today because of the rain and water is seeping in by the chimney.

BlueCad installs easyly enough in OS/2 but it doesn't seem to be able to read its own files! Under Windows95 That is no problem. Wor Windows I had to set my screen to XGA resolution, which is a bit fuzzy for text but running CAD on something lower isn't realy usefull.
