I have taken a hollidy today. Mainly to get may car maintained but also for some rest and other jobs.

I've been busy in the garden, preparing for spring. Mainly planning and some rough weeding. The soil is to soggy for real work.

TeleSales 2000 Workshop today at the ITC. This is intended to teach Opcos how to handle the TS2000 way of working. As I will have to do that as well I should be training along. Instead I have been searching and testing remarks made by the Opco people.

I got called away to quickly solve a problem for Italy. They have a lot of orders with discounts and condition. When shuch an order cannot be delivered in a single action it is split by the logistics system. The problem is that when an order gets split into parial orders the conditions on the last partial order are not taken into account when making the invoice. As most of the conditions result in price reductions clients get billed more than they should. This gets noticed fast of cource.
Finding the problem is not fast howver. I tried it here in Venlo and I couldn't reproduce the situation.

The machine in Italy shuts down at halfpast six so I will have to continue tomorrow.

I have been updating the Windows tips.

Suzannes ount died last night so she will not be in today. Burial is on saturday.

The problem they have in Italy was previously reported and solved here in Venlo. I only noticed it by searching all the programs involved in the splitting up of and order by OLI. While working my way dow I hit the INV453R program.

remember courier/fixed font still compresses the blanks.
The PRS concerned wea sent to Germany, NVM and the USA. Not to Italy. It is included in the r7v08m02 so all the opcos will have it on tape. Installing the full modification distribution however is a major project for an opco. It takes to long to do when, like this situation, a quick solution for a production problem is needed.

They will of course still have to make the creditnotes for the invoices that got adled. It are about 80 invoices that need credits so this can be done manualy. Maybe they call for assistance with it. Assistance will only be available in the sense of moral support, we are not going to make a program to do it and we are not going to manipulate their production data.

I still went to the workshop after that (by 14h30) but I was too late to get more than the finishing conclusions.

From Venlo I went direct to Diest to pickup the television and relocate it again. I am surprised at how light that television really is for a 70cm unit. We installed in the upstairs bedroom without cable so it won’t be used for a wile.

It was about 9h00 when I came home. For dinner I prepared wet rice mix (boiled rice with peas, beans, carrots and turnips, all in julienne and bacon) with plenty reserve for tomorrow noon.
By the time I finished washing up it was to late to start anything else so I went to bed early for a change.

Beretta, from OCE Italy, has a solution for a problem that we didn’t know already. In order entry you can enter an order for an item that is already delivered, for example the customer came to pick it up directly and the orther is made post factvm. Normal orders cannot be released when there are not enough items in stock. For ‘already delivered’ orders this test must be skipped. Under certain conditions this doesn’t happen. His solution works but I must check if it doesn’t break other things.

In Germany they noted a problem in the TH file (trigger). Negative orders don’t need order calculation. This results in records in TH that never get status ‘order calculation=yes’ and without this status the records are never deleted. (TH, trigger file, is a workfile that should be empty after processing .) They entered a PRS (11095). This may be related to an older PRS (9718).
This will have to wait till tomorrow. Italy first.

I had to much rice. I ate it all because I like it, but now I am not feeling to well.

The only PCish thing I did was browsing pictures on some CDs I got. There are quite good ones among the lot but you got to view them all to find them.

Someone in Germany wants to know the ins and outs of the TH file. I’ll have to do the searching anyway so I will start on that now and leave Italy for a while.

Oeps.
In Italy they notice that the solution for the missing conditions which we sent them on Wednesday works. However the notice that still some records display the same problem even tough the OK/KO file is correct now.
This requires immediate action so Germany has to wait. Until they strike an even bigger problem. Italy has me baffled, I don’t find a possible problem. The data looks good in all the files except the invoices. I am stepping trough the sources statement by statement. With Peter looking on and helping out whenever he can.

The Italy-1 machine just kicked us out (it is past seven after all) so we will have to go back in on Monday

After dinner (and washing up) it was to late to do anything.

No running today because my leg isn’t feeling fit enough. I am giving it rest now so maybe in a week time I can run without cramps. I hope.

I startet cutting back the row of willows beside the railroad and did some digging among the plants. Last week a verry litle amount of digging and work caused some blisters but this week I did much more without blisters.

Scanning in text that is reduced by an old overworked copy machine is not the bast way to get an Optical Character Recognised text. Especialy if it contains a lot of special characters.
