Validation of orders done via TS2000 is inconsistent.
Online validation and 'entry' validation give different result. When Online validation is selected from the menu it works correctly but the same validation, executed when trying to actually release the order always return correct, even when they shouldn't. When a release is performed first all subsequent online test pass up on errors.

The access routine doesn't finish with LR set so it keeps its access paths open. This is done to get better performance. Online validation from the menu requires overrides, enter-validation requires no overrides. Whatever executes first did set the access path used by the access routine (oca845r).

By reclaiming resources after each test access paths are reopened each time.

At about half past four Fred Peeters with Danielle Verlinden passed by. They have looked in to the problem with Germany (check on Problems page). Of course they want it solved immediately. They even propose to test it. Well if we make an order and send that to OFI. Now that is all the work needed to test so they generously agreed to do that!

Ronny takes a half day off this afternoon. He has to because of the un-userfrendly handling of the CW bureaucracy

The problem requires a new PRS (11199). The original adaptation in the invoice calculation program (ivc022r) must be removed. In the General Ledger filling program (ivc025r) the total cost price (ge.tcp) must be set to zeroes when an order with urgency code ‘9’ (oh.urg) is encountered. Order header is already used so that is no problem.

The actual programming took about half an hour. Testing took the rest of the day! Then the test results had to be sent to OFI. OFI resides on another AS/400 and used another environment so the addresses and items and accounting codes must be synchronized first. The easiest method is manually editing the invoice and order data before presenting it to the General Ledger interface. If I edit after filling the interface they can, rightly, bounce any undetected error back to me on account of invalid passed test data. I don’t want Danielle bouncing back!

An unexpected complication is that CS, which normally passes the files from system to system is not set up to send data from the test environment on the 003 to the Integration environment on the 001.

I reinstalled Win95 from the upgrade CD on Yaku. This went almost smoothly although I don’t get the sound card working because some drivers are missing. Which is strange because in the original Win95 installation the card just worked fine. One more Microsoft mystery.

The OFI problem is correctly solved and Danielle accepted the solution. The PRS can now be sent to the opco’s.

Most of the day went into looking up how the status of orders changes for different types of orders. In the TeleSales system an order always goes from hold to released or back. On the OMSI-3 system the order can also change from hold directly to In Stock (but not back). The OMSI-3 way is correct so TS must be adapted.

I also updated the Manual pages but the organization is not good enough I thing. This will need a lot of work if it is to be done manually.

I translated the Lasagna recipe and did a few correction to other recipes. most of them are quite old now and should be converted to Word Pro format from the old AMI 3 format. Yet more work!

I installed the drivers from the SoundBlaster diskettes. This is a real Creative SoundBlaster AWE32 card, with the original floppies. But I still don’t get any sound out of it.

Later today I tried to install Win98 from the working Win95 system, all earlier attempts started from a clean (formatted) disk. This does not change a bit. The install hangs at the first reboot, always after msmouse.vxd.
When I upgraded Yaku from the i486 VLB to a Cyrix PCI system I had a problem with activating the PS/2 port. Whenever I made that active the system wouldn’t come up. This had something to do with the connectors to the reset/turbo/LCD front panel.

I start to get the order status story sorted out so I can build it in in the TS2000 system. This has to go in the PRO023 program on the AS/400.

Installing from a working Win95 system solves nothing. Win98 just doesn’t like this box. The uninstall does work. It takes two reboots, one of which hangs on the “please wait ...” screen, and about as long as installing but you are returned to the Win95 system working as it did before you started. At least one thing that works (here).

A lot of small things but nothing of importance got done today.

The problem that the Progress Service job changes the last access date of the orders validated and entered by TeleSales got solved ( check PRS11200 ).

Our neighbor died last week so we have a burial to attend to.

He fell ill about a fortnight ago and deteriorated quickly. He was just 78j and had always been good-humored. We will miss him.

Hour change to Summer time, looking out, mist and drizzle at about 4 Celsius, summer is still a long way off.

Last week I did a 5 km run and got a problem at the end of it, today I did a 1 km run and got the problem almost halfway. I wonder, where can I buy new legs, those I’ve got now are getting worn out :--).

The weather turned sunny and spring like by noon.
