Grey low clouds with silver lined gaps producing a beautiful marbled effect. Not at all the warm weather we have had ( barely 10°C ).

The correction program is finished, compiled and passes the first test. It runs. Next is checking if it not only does what it's instructed to do but also if that corrects the problem.

TeleSales has long finished the release release-1 stage and is reaching the end of release-2 stage in the software life cycle.

A lot of functions are built using dialogue boxes, ex where the user must fill in an address he can prompt for a selection, getting a dialogue box. Most of these boxes (already) contain far more information than needed because each designer and each opco wants specific data displayed and the program must satisfy all tastes (sound familiar?).
The question coming up now is to be able to add and modify the data on these dialogue boxes. In effect the users want to be able to maintain everything everywhere. Using Progress and ProShield the whole TeleSales application has basically become one huge single tasking tangle of routines. If we build in that maintain everything everywhere idea users are going to lose their way and it will become totally impossible to maintain.
Splitting up is not really an option because each split-off part would require its own database connection via the server and that would multiply the number of required licences (read multiplying the cost).

No Football today (nor tomorrow for that matter)

And it is time for filling in the TAX papers. Oh dear.
