Some strong rain cooling down the morning (8°C) but after 8h00 it stops raining and gets warm and sunny.

Shopping. While I am in the shop (for a few Zip disks which he doesn't have in stock) Steven informs me that he is (going to) transfer my site over to a server in the Netherlands. The servers there have a higher bandwidth and are a few hops closer to home which is all right by me. Maybe it will take a few milliseconds longer for people from America which may be canceled out by the higher bandwidth. The servers used to cost extra (bigger pipe = bigger bill) but I won't be paying for that because I explicitly ordered the other, cheaper servers.

I got a mail from NSI informing me about a change in security policy. While transferring from iTool to Masset Steven said he would transfer my registration from NSI to Joker. So I was a bit surprised to still get mail from them. Of course registering at NSI means you pay for two years so reasonably enough I will stay registered at NSI until August 2001.

It's nice and warm so I wander into the garden ...

Calling inside the local telephone zone didn't require the zone number, you could add it but it was ignored most of the time. As of the first of July (ahum, today) it became mandatory. Anticipating the change I adapted the numbers in my phone book(s) and address list(s) some months ago. Of course I forgot to adapt the dialing number for my connection and I forgot that the change over would happen.
Result I spent more than an hour trouble shooting (and plugging the holes again) the modem and PC expecting some mysteriously (read Standard Windows behavior) changed settings. Exasperated I finally called the number using a handset.
To be greeted by a recording telling me to add the area code. Arrggggg.

Adios
